After careful consideration, the Jr. Concerto Competition is reinstated and will take place online this year. The registration deadline has been moved to January 15, 2021. Eligibility: Young Musicians, School Grade 4 and younger
Junior Musicians, School Grade 5-8
Senior Musicians, School Grade 9-12
Fees: $35.00 per student with no teacher fee for KCMTA members
$35.00 per student plus $25.00 teacher fee for members of MTNA
$35.00 per student plus $75.00 teacher fee with no MTNA membership

Description:

This competition is an opportunity for students of piano, strings, and instrumentalists to compete for awards and to perform in a competitive setting, yet to do so in safe and friendly environment. The Competition will be held in the online format.

Format: The recording of the applicant can be uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo. Students should perform their selected movement in its entirety by memory. All links of the recording must be submitted by January 30th, 2021, 11PM CST. Adjudicator may select winners from each group. Each winner will receive an award in a form of a certificate and a medal.

Repertoire: One movement (memorized) of a concerto for piano or other instrument from the standard repertoire. Pedagogical concertos may be used.

Eligibility and Fees:  All pianists and instrumentalists age 18 or under are eligible to enter. The entrance fee is $35.00 per student whose teacher is a KCMTA member, additional $25.00 teacher fee for teachers who are MTMA members and $75.00 teacher fee for teacher with no MTNA membership.  One check made to KCMTA may be sent by the teacher to cover the total fee. No enrollments will be accepted after January 15, 2021.

Rules:  Students must furnish their own second piano and pianist for accompaniment for their recordings.
