I just wanted to let the members of KCMTA know about another fabulous opportunity for area pianists from the Friends of Chamber Music.
We will host a Meet and Greet with Víkingur Ólafsson at Monarch Coffee’s Drawing Room (http://www.monarchcoffeekc.com/) on Thursday, November 1 from 2:00-3:00 PM. Vikingur will be available to speak with area pianists, students, and teachers and answer any questions they may have. Víkingur is a Julliard-trained pianist with a recording contract with Deutsche Gramophone and has been hailed as “Iceland’s Glen Gould.” The event is free to attend, but I ask that anyone interested in attending send me a quick RSVP email saying “I’d like to attend the meet and greet with Víkingur Ólafsson.”
His concert with the Friends is Friday, November 2 at 7:30 PM at the Folly Theater. Tickets are $25-$35 for general admission, $15 for students/seniors/military/piano teachers, and FREE for youth 17 and younger. We also have piano teacher subscriptions for the Master Pianist Series available for $40 (4 concerts featuring Víkingur Ólafsson, Jonathan Biss, Alexander Melnikov, and Richard Goode).
