Charles Askew invites you to two upcoming recitals of music classics and original compositions. He’ll be at Schmitt Music, 7316 W. 119th St., Overland Park on July 22 at 4 p.m. and at Parkville Presbyterian Church, 819 Main St., Parkville on August 5 at 3 p.m.
Charles currently has a 3.8 GPA at University of Missouri, Columbia. As a Sophomore, he already gave a full recital including Bach’s prelude and Fugue in Bb Minor, BWV 867, Beethoven’s Sonata in C Minor, Op. 10 #1, Schumann’s Blumenstuck , Op. 19 and Toch’s Der Jongleur Op. 31 #3. He also performed Mozart’s 9th Concerto in Eb major, K. 271 at a concerto festival and for his jury later in the year. In addition to his pianistic and educational duties, he is also conductor and artistic director of a contemporary music ensemble, Exit 128.
He will be a Junior in the Fall where he will perform in recitals and contests with the Bach 4th French Suite, Beethoven Piano Sonata op. 26, Chopin’s Nocturne in C Op. 48 #1, Ginastera’s 3 Argentinean Dances, and the Beethoven 2nd Piano Concerto.
